Close Protection Training

January 25th, 2012

In the field of close protection training is regulated, provided and qualifications are awarded by different organisations. So how does it work and who does what?

The SIA (Security Industry Authority) sets and specifies qualifications and defines skills that are required for a licence. It does not provide any close protection training, nor deals with awarding qualifications. The SIA endorses regulatory authorities and licence awarding organisations as well as holds responsibility for the overall quality assurance of the licensing process.

The qualification regulation authorities set the standards and accredit qualifications.

The awarding organisations develop qualifications and also operate the examination system. These organisations also approve the training and assessment centres, who deliver close protection training courses and other security training courses.
